Our vital functions are dependent on a sufficient supply of oxygen to our body cells, and this includes our skin cells. For our skin to remain healthy, the dermis needs to form collagen and hyaluronic acid structures so that our skin appears tight and youthfully smooth.
As we age, our blood circulation slows down and the microcapillaries in the skin degenerate, hence providing less oxygen and nutrients to skin cells. As a result, cell regeneration slows down significantly and skin becomes thinner, dry, wrinkled and more prone to pigmentation.
